YEAR 4 VISUAL COMMUNICATION:
GRAPHIC DESIGN WORKSHOP
Fargo, Georgia
The Year 4 Visual Communication: Graphic Design Workshop was held on March 12-16, 2025. Emerge fellows traveled to Fargo, Georgia to stay at the Suwannee River Eco-Lodge at Stephen C. Foster State Park where they spent three full days and four nights. Days were spent learning with Inkscape to design presentation slides and graphics. Fellows also enjoyed an afternoon paddle into the adjacent Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, where they learned about the local ecology. Guest speakers included Kristen Zemaitis (Caretta Research Project) and Chip Campbell (Okefenokee & Satilla Expeditions).
Emerge funded 1 undergraduate student, 11 graduate students, and 3 early career professionals (total: 14) to participate. This workshop was co-led by Co-PI Dan McGarvey with support from Breanna Ondich (Emerge Program Coordinator).
