YEAR 2 RIVER FLOAT
Pere Marquette River, Michigan

The 2022 river float preceded the SFS Annual Meeting at the Joint Aquatic Science Meeting (JASM). It was held on May 11-14, 2022. Emerge fellows traveled to Baldwin, Michigan where they spent three full days paddling and three nights camping.

Emerge funded 3 undergraduate students, 6 graduate students, and 4 early career professionals (total: 13) to participate.

All river logistics and instruction were orchestrated by collaborators at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Outdoor Adventure Program and current scholar, Aaron Koning, of the River Field Studies Network (NSF DBI-2120665).
