YEAR 5 VISUAL COMMUNICATION:
GRAPHIC DESIGN WORKSHOP
St. Teresa, Florida

The Year 5 Visual Communication: Graphic Design Workshop was held on March 11-15, 2026. Emerge fellows traveled to St. Teresa, Florida to stay at the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory (FSUCML) where they spent three full days and four nights. Days were spent learning with Inkscape to design presentation slides and graphics. Fellows also enjoyed an afternoon field trip to Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, where they embarked on a boat tour to learn about the park history and wildlife. Guest speakers included Dr. Mariana Fuentes (Professor, FSU).

Emerge funded 5 undergraduate student, 6 graduate students, 2 early career professionals, and 1 Emerge alum (total: 14) to participate. This workshop was co-led by Co-PI Dan McGarvey with support from Co-PI Amanda Rugenski and Breanna Ondich (Emerge Program Coordinator).​
