2024 [YEAR 4] SFS ANNUAL MEETING
The 2024 Society for Freshwater Science Virtual Annual Meeting was held on June 2-9, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The meeting included oral presentations, Emerge-exclusive workshops, plenary speakers, poster presentations, and social events.

The Emerge program funded in-person participation at the 2024 SFS Annual Meeting for the Year-4 cohort of 5 undergraduate students, 29 graduate students, and 2 early career professionals (total: 36). In addition to Emerge-focused presentations, 30 Year-4 Emerge fellows presented their own research (16 oral and 16 poster presentations, for a total of 32 presentations). Two posters presented by Year-3 fellows continuing into Year 4 were the products of the Year-3 Online Collaborative and Community teams. Additionally, 12 Emerge alumni (ranging from YR1-3) presented their own research (8 oral and 4 poster presentations). One of the alumni posters featured the Scholar Team for Research, Engagement, and Advancing Minority Voices (STREAM).

The poster created in the Year-3 Visual Communication Workshop was presented by the Emerge Program Coordinator and co-authored by 18 additional people: 5 Year-4 fellows (also in Year 3), 11 Year-3 fellows (alumni), and co-PIs Dan McGarvey and Tina Mendez. Co-PI Dan McGarvey presented an oral presentation with results that were made possible by the contributions of two Emerge alumni. The Emerge Steering Committee also collaborated to present a plenary on Thursday, June 6, 2024 that included information specific to the Emerge program.
